uncertainties facing mountain environment planning analysis and management models

most of the analyses and modeling concerning the mountain physical and human environmental changes have been based on theoretical speculation rather than scientific field observations. lack of standard observations and measurements in scattered and case specific monitoring programs offer only partially useful results for planning and management. all propositions and conclusions are hence mingled with uncertainty. proportional with the increasing pressure on mountain environment more reliable scientific frameworks are needed for monitoring mountain environmental changes and its development. only more standard field observation and research programs on a global scale, may reduce the heavy load of uncertainty existing in this field of environmental sciences and management.
